Montepulciano is a splendid medieval hamlet located between the Valdichiana and the stunning Val d’Orcia. The village is completely surrounded by wineries on all sides and has a magical fairy tale like quality. The DOCG red wines made here are called Vino Nobile (Noble wines). This wine has been famous in the aristocracy since 15th century poet Poliziano brought it to the court of none other than Lorenzo dei Medici.
The poet Francesco Redi in his work ‘Bacchus of Tuscany’ wrote “Montepulciano is of every wine King!”. Montepulciano’s streets are rich in Gothic and Renaissance buildings, you will feel as if you are in a village of Nobles, as noble is its prestigious wine! We’ll travel through the beautiful Montepulciano countryside and we’ll stop at a selected winery to enjoy this Noble wine and listen to its story during the guided tour of cellars.
On this tour we can include a visit of Pienza, one of the most beautiful Tuscan towns. A rare example of Renaissance architecture built according to the wishes of Pope Pio II as ‘ideal city’ and today known for the production of an excellent Pecorino cheese.
