This tour will take you to discover the pretty hill town of Montalcino and stunning views over the Orcia Valley with silvery olive orchards, vineyards, field and villages. Today, Montalcino is known for the production of one of Italy’s most important red wines. The Brunello di Montalcino is a DOCG (denomination of guaranteed and certified origin) wine, the first Italian wine to be awarded the status and considered to be the Italian red wine.
We’ll travel through the beautiful Montalcino countryside with stop at selected wineries for fine wine and listen to its story during the guided tour of cellars. During this tour we can include a visit to the ancient Benedectine abbey of Sant’Antimo and experiance Gregorian Chanting sung by the Abbey’s monks. Then a visit of Pienza, one of the most beautiful Tuscan towns, a rare example of Renaissance architecture built according to the wishes of Pope Pio II as ‘ideal city. Today Pienza is known for the production of an excellent Pecorino cheese.
